Computer Liebe

A Man Sitting in the Cafeteria - Charles Dodge - 1980

Where Is My Mind? - Mr. Hopkinson's Computer - 2005

Charles Dodge is an experimental composer and former student of Darius Milhaud and Gunther Schuller. He's a professor at Dartmouth now, but he used to teach at Columbia, where he created a grad program in computer music. I discovered his "Man Sitting in the Cafeteria" back when Epitonic was still the best place to find new music on the internet. That was around the same time I also found this amazing Pixies cover on another great site. Nick and I agree that Mr. Hopkinson's detached computer voice brings new meaning to "where is my mind?"
