On Live Support

All Things - Hieroglyphics - 1998
Flavor Of The Month - Black Sheep - 1994

Hieroglyphics are a Bay Area classic. In my mind they are forever included among the tomes of legend'ry old school cuts that bounded out of New York, despite their late 90s vintage and West Coast (capitalized with pride) affiliation. Thus, this is more of the same from me, admittedly- but better than nothing at all.

An obscure classic

Tributo a Victor Manga - Antonio Adolfo & A Brazuca - 1970

Keyboardist/arranger Antonio Adolfo pulled female vocal group A Brazuca for this amazing 1970 session on the Odeon/EMI label. I'm a sucker for this era of Brazilian pop, and this cut has a sweeping cinematic arrangement that matches the best '70s Italian soundtracks. Here you have ethereal Morricone-style vocals floating over Adolfo's wails and warm electric keyboards. Midway in, there's a solid drum solo that I assume comes from Victor Manga himself. I couldn't find a personnel listing for this album, but I did find Manga-Adolfo collaborations on recordings like this (kind of scratchy LP rip, but highly recommended).
